Super MarioMon is the true definition of a complete overhaul of a romhack, and the explanation here is the reason why it is my choice for the best hack of 2025! This INCREDIBLE hack is developed by Alpharad, and the other amazing people who made this wonderful hack possible! An incredible hack over 4 years in the making, and a huge team of people later, we get this beauty!! This is not just your average rom hack. This is a hack LITERALLY ripped from its foundation! It's an entirely new game from scratch! The only thing that was left was the controls! Built from Pokémon Emerald, but really Bears no resemblance to any other Pokémon game aside from how the game is structured. They rewrote an entire story, designed an entirely new world, made an entire soundtrack, but most importantly, created 151 captures for you to throw your caps at! Pokeballs are replaced with cappy, which is how you control your Mario characters and take them into battle! One of the greatest love letters to Pokémon and Mario!
The story begins with you and Luigi in Mario's Pad! You get invited to a special Cap Challenge signed by Princess Peach, leading you to the Mushroom League. Professor E. Gad comes to help you choose a Mario Cap character, and on your adventure, you learn something is much more Sinister right hand! Is it Bowser at it again? Collect 8 Power Stars, challenge the Elite Koopa's, and try to collect all 151 Mario Cap characters to do battle with! Runs on emulators and real hardware! If you know how I feel about Pokémon hacks, how they come a dime a dozen, and it needs to be unique in some fashion. This game feels much more like a new Mario RPG than a Pokémon game! Earlier this year, I said this far surpasses that, as it got my vote for one of the best this year, and it definitely did! I hope you al enjoy the video!
