Obscura Hymns - The Geometry of Distance

Описание: This song is inspired by countless nights spent by the campfire, outside my tent, gazing at the stars. I often imagine that somewhere out there, on a planet orbiting a distant sun, another being is looking up at the same sky, wondering if they are alone in the universe.

Even though we are looking into each other's past, across tens, hundreds, or even thousands of light-years, our gazes will eventually meet somewhere in the cosmic void. Only our silent glances will truly know whether or not we are alone in the vastness of the cosmos.


I lie beside a dying fire, where embers gasp for breath,
Watching lights from ancient worlds, defying cosmic death.
Upon a sphere of frozen dust, a billion leagues from here,
Another soul is looking up, through the same cold atmosphere.
A silent gaze, a lonely heart, a mirror in the sky,
Searching for a reason in a universe gone dry.

Our eyes are locked on paths of light that left a million years ago,
Burning through the velvet dark, a pale and ghostly glow.
We share the same horizon, yet we’re anchored to our stones,
Two islands in a sea of night, with winter in our bones.
I reach for you through empty space, a ghost within the deep,
Across the graves of dying suns where silence comes to sleep.

A MEETING BORN OF THOUGHT!
TWO SHADOWS IN THE ENDLESS BLACK,
WITH NO WAY HOME, NO TURNING BACK!
PHYSICAL COLLAPSE! SPIRITUAL VOID!
BETWEEN THE STARS, WE ARE DESTROYED!
ALONE! FOREVER! ALONE!

Ten thousand years of drifting, until our visions meet,
In the hollow center of the void, where time is incomplete.
We’ll never touch, we’ll never speak, we’ll never know the name,
Of the one who watched the silver fire and shared the lonely flame.
We are the architects of grief, the masters of the sigh,
Asking "why?" to every star that fades within the eye.

The fire is out. The sky is wide.
There is nowhere...
For us to hide.
Just the cold...
And the distance.
