Описание: Why is Mania Bad if it Feels Good? Doctor Explains. Sources- PMID 25846854 td13_ on TT In the early stages of a manic episode, the experience can feel intensely euphoric, often described as a "natural high" where the world seems more vibrant, ideas flow with lightning speed, and self-confidence reaches an all-time peak. This state, known as hypomania when less severe, is characterized by a surge in dopamine and a decreased need for sleep. A person may feel incredibly productive, creative, and charismatic, believing they have finally reached their "true" potential. Because the brain’s reward system is hyper-activated, every thought feels like a stroke of genius and every impulse feels like a necessity, making it very difficult for the individual to recognize that they are entering a clinical state. As mania intensifies, however, this euphoria often transitions into profound disinhibition and a loss of "top-down" executive control from the prefrontal cortex. The brain’s ability to assess risk or consequences essentially shuts down, leading to impulsive behaviors that can have devastating life consequences. This might manifest as reckless financial spending, sudden career-ending outbursts, or risky sexual encounters that the individual would never consider when stable. Because the person feels invincible, they may alienate loved ones or engage in dangerous activities, unaware of the damage being done. Once the episode subsides, the "crash" often brings a crushing sense of shame and the reality of having to rebuild a life from the wreckage of those impulsive choices. #mania #bipolar #MentalHealth
