This Fake IAS Shook Kashmir. Meet Kiran Patel from Ahmedabad, an ordinary man who posed as a PMO officer and scammed the Jammu & Kashmir government. Claiming he was there to boost Kashmir tourism, he was given Z+ security, a bulletproof car, and stayed as a state guest in a luxury suite worth ₹30,000/night.
Using fake documents and a forged identity, he attended Army briefings in LoC areas, made promises to Kashmir business owners, and even posted it all on social media. Shockingly, he pulled off this scam three times, causing a fraud of nearly ₹80 lakh.
His game ended when real IAS officer Syed Hamid grew suspicious and confirmed with the PMO. Now, Patel is behind bars in Srinagar Jail.
