Candidates applying for BCU PhD Admission 2026 must possess a Master’s Degree from a UGC recognized university with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade, while SC/ST/Cat-I/PwD candidates receive 5% relaxation as per university rules. Applicants whose postgraduate results are expressed in grades or credit systems will have marks converted into percentage for eligibility assessment.
The university will conduct a PhD Entrance Test of 120 minutes carrying 100 marks. The examination includes 50% Research Methodology questions and 50% core subject questions consisting of 50 MCQs. Candidates must secure at least 50% marks in the entrance examination to qualify for admission. Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET, CSIR-JRF, K-SLET, GATE, INSPIRE Fellowship, or other national research fellowships are exempted from the entrance test and may apply under the Non-Entrance category.
The application fee structure is clearly defined in the notification. GM and OBC candidates appearing for the entrance test must pay ₹3,630, while SC/ST/Cat-I/PwD candidates pay ₹1,820. Under the Non-Entrance category, GM/OBC candidates must pay ₹2,420, and SC/ST/Cat-I/PwD candidates must pay ₹1,210. The fee for foreign national candidates is ₹12,100. Payment must be completed through online mode using account details or QR code provided by the university.
To apply for Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University PhD Admission 2026-27, candidates must download the prescribed application form from the university website, fill the online application, upload passport-size photograph and academic details, pay the application fee online, and finally submit the hard copy of the application along with required documents to the Office of the Registrar (Evaluation), Natural Science Block, Jnana Jyothi Central College Campus, Bengaluru. Applications can also be sent through post with all enclosures and payment proof. Incomplete or late applications will be rejected automatically.
Selection will be based on merit prepared separately for Entrance and Non-Entrance categories. Full-time candidates typically complete coursework in one semester, while part-time scholars may complete it in two semesters along with research proposal development under the supervision of assigned research guides.
