Описание: tropical house is a relatively new genre. the genre first emerged in the mid-late 2000s and took inspiration from different sub-genres of edm. the genre slowly started to gain popularity, but really exploded in 2013 with the release of the song 'sun don't shine' by austrian dj klangkarussell.

the name 'tropical house' was originally coined by austrailian producer thomas jack, initially as joke, but the name stuck. now the genre is one of the most popular in mainstream music, helped by famous dj's and music producers like kygo, david guetta, the chainsmokers, and more.

in kpop, tropical house began to emerge as trend in mid-2015, and was particularly spearheaded by one production group - 'ldn noise'. however, the genre really exploded in 2016 and it seemed like every other comeback and release was inspired by tropical house. the genre got so popular that it even began to receive backlash, as trop. house releases were considered 'lazy' or hopping on the trend bandwagon.

although it's no longer as prevalent, tropical house still very much exists within the kpop industry. it's a solid genre for public appeal, and is pretty synonymous with the summer months, so i don't think it's going anywhere any time soon. personally, i quite enjoy the genre myself, the songs are catchy and upbeat, but the 2016-2017 tropicalpocalyse did cause a lot of popular songs to sound very similar.
