Welcome to Arizona! It is my first time ever filming in this state! The Oak Creek is a stream found in the Coconino National Forest before you get into Sedona. Some of the bedrock layers shown include the Kaibab Limestone, Coconino Sandstone, and the Schnebly Hill formation. For another, there are even traces of volcanic ash and cinder found here.
Oak Creek Canyon formed from faulting. The eastern rim dropped in elevation by 700 feet in height. As a result, that is why there is somewhat of a missing correlation between the rock strata on both sides of the river.
