“The Hunger of Dreams” follows the narrator as the thing he begged back from death stops just haunting him and starts feeding through him. She sleeps inside his chest and wakes when he dreams. Every time he closes his eyes, something is stolen—colour from the world, rest from strangers, pieces of who he used to be.

He stops sleeping to protect her, then realizes it’s everyone else who needs protection. Mare explains the truth: he’s not her saviour, he’s her vessel. The resurrected love he clings to is now a starving echo that only survives by devouring dreams through him. The wish he made becomes the tomb he’s building from his own mind.

Musically, this chapter dives into blackened doom and atmospheric despair: tremolo-picked riffs, distant screams, pounding drums, and a chorus that sounds like insomnia finally breaking into madness.

Each kiss devours, each whisper rends.
My thoughts unravel, torn and frayed,
By things I dreamed and should’ve stayed.
She feeds on memory, on regret,
She grows more real the more I fret.
And when I sleep, she drinks me dry—
A siren shaped from when I cried.

There is no sleep, there is no waking,
Only the hunger, the breaking, the taking.
The Dream Reaper laughs—
His work is done.
I summoned the storm.
I can’t outrun.

Feed me fire, feed me frost,
Carve my name on what I lost.
This thirst for her is death by flame,
But I still whisper out her name...

And now I starve,
As she consumes.
The dream I begged...
Becomes my tomb.
