The terms P.C. (Protective Custody), S.N.Y. (Sensitive Needs Yards), 50/50 (Integrated Yards) and G.P. (General Population) are often misused so here is what the terms actually mean and how they apply in California Prisons.
While I only served time in the General Population, Ad Seg. for violence and ultimately the Security Housing Unit (SHU) for being a validated prison gang member, and paroled 13 years before the Integrated Yards began, this information reflects what we learned while in prison, my contact with people of various classifications since paroling and is all verifiable from public records.
