Back in November of 1976, Jimmy Carter was beating out Gerald Ford for the Presidency and people were running to the record stores to buy "Love Ballad" by a group known as L.T.D. or Love, Togetherness and Devotion.

They were first known as Love Men LTD when they formed but in 1968 they changed it to L.T.D. with Jimmy JD Davis, Toby Wynn, Abraham Miller, Carle Wayne Vickers, Jake Riley and Arthur Carnegie as members. Jeffrey Osborne was soon involved.

Touring and working for eight years set them up for fame, and their 1976 single, "Love Ballad" which led to their next LP "Something To Love" with the centrepiece "(Every Time I Turn Around) Back In Love Again" which was a crossover smash in 1977. The song peaked at #1 R&B for two weeks, #4 on the Hot100 and #19 on the disco chart.

Producer Bobby Martin from MFSB was on hand to bring the song to life, and since he had gained a lot of experience on the pop side of disco to help the band establish themselves. He brought them this little song from Len Ron Hanks and Zane Grey.

Jeffrey had hired Angela Winbush to sing on a few of his demos and brought her on to background vocals for "Back In Love Again" as she became his go to. She would later go on to fame as one half of René & Angela. He also credits drummer Melvin Webb whom he called "Big Mel" for the relentlessly upbeat rhythm that drove the song. Sadly, Webb passed away shortly after the album was completed.
