Biography:
Angie is a Japanese-American cellist based in London, with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the Royal College of Music, where she studied with Raphael Wallfisch. She began her studies at thirteen with Tchaikovsky Competition winner Nathaniel Rosen and is also a Dean’s List graduate of the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division, where she studied with Ole Akahoshi.
Angie has earned numerous accolades, including the Jury Award at the Tokyo International Association of Artists, the Honour Award at the Cecilia International Competition, and the Director’s Choice and Elan Awards for her leadership in the ISSH Orchestra. She was selected for the Tokyo University of the Arts’ Early Education Project (2015) and was the youngest guest artist at the Chofu International Music Festival in 2019. In 2024, she had the honor of welcoming Emperor Naruhito during his state visit to the Royal College of Music.
As an orchestral performer, Angie has played at venues such as Suntory Hall, Royal Festival Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall, working with conductors such as Jac van Steen, Sir Andrew Davis, and Martyn Brabbins. She was principal cellist for the Kanto Plain Orchestra and the RCM Philharmonic, and collaborated with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe in 2025. As a chamber musician, she has had masterclasses and coaching with the Marmen Quartet and Quartetto di Cremona.
In addition to performing, Angie is a dedicated music educator. Angie currently serves as a Music Teacher and Orchestral Mentor at Hounslow Music Service Ltd, teaching cello at several primary schools and mentoring orchestras across London.
