Václav Růžička (1757-1823) was a Moravian musician who made a career at the imperial court in Vienna, where he germanized his name to "Wenzel Ruzitska". He was one of the earliest teachers of Franz Schubert, and he had three sons, Franz, Wenzel and Georg, who also became musicians. In 1830, Franz set up a military band in Iaşi, the Moldavian capital. Four years later, he published one of the first collections of its kind, piano arrangements of Moldovan, Wallachian, Greek and Turkish songs and dances. In this French-language publication he romanized his name to "François Rouschitzki"; Romanian sources also spell him "Rouszitzka" and "Rujiţki".
