Rance & Maff return to Piston Recordings with their latest outing, the superb ‘Comfort Zone’, which is delivered with 3 solid remixes from returning Piston contributors Col Lawton, Miguel Palhares and Nzagi. Behind the Rance & Maff project is Seb Jesus, a versatile producer hailing from Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean. Already well-established under his J-Zeus alias—where he's known for pioneering the genre-bending SegaPunk style, a fusion of Sega, Maloya Electro, and cutting-edge club sounds—Seb now explores a fresh sonic direction. The Rance & Maff alias sees him diving deeper into the realms of techno, tech house, and deep house, quickly earning recognition on the underground circuit. With recent appearances on Record Union and Irreel Records, plus releases through his own imprint Lakabane Recordings, this is an artist clearly on the rise.


First up, the Original Mix gets us moving with an upbeat vibe, introing with punchy 909 kicks, crisp hi-hats, and layered rhythmic percussion that instantly sets a driving pace. A thick, funky bassline slides in early, locking down a groove that's impossible to ignore. As the energy builds, melodic plucks weave in, cool, catchy, and full of character, adding a playful edge to the track. Infectious and highly danceable, not to be missed.



Miguel Palhares is back, this time with a top-notch remix which follows his last release here, ‘My Turn’. On the remix here, Miguel opens with layered hi-hats, sharp claps, and intricate rhythmic percussion, building tension with percussive finesse. Thumping kick drums lock us in as a deep, subby bassline pulses with warmth and weight. Tribal-inspired drums add a raw, organic energy, while delicate melodic elements float gracefully above the groove. At its heart is a catchy hook—elevating the vibe and making it both hypnotic and highly memorable.



We welcome Col Lawton back once again with a fantastic remix to continue a string of top-quality cuts for the label. Here, Col offers a high-energy deep house weapon that hits hard from the start with heavy kick drums, slicing hi-hats, and tight, rhythmic percussion driving the momentum. A powerful, rolling bassline anchors the groove, pushing it forward with undeniable force, as plucky melodies fade in, bringing a touch of lightness without losing the edge. Rolling snares build intensity and keep the pulse racing, making this an electrifying and edgy cut.



Nzagi returns, rounding out the release with a superb remix, following on from his last effort here, ‘Floyd Dub’ alongside Leandro Silva. The remix delivers a smooth, late-night deep house cut with soft, rounded kicks, hypnotic hi-hat shakers, and understated rhythmic percussion. The groove unfolds gently as a deep, plucky bassline lays the foundation, weaving through warm, infectious chords that radiate subtle emotion. Built on atmosphere and flow, the groove is intimate and entrancing, perfect for deeper sessions.
