Having used rollers for, literally decades I was very excited for these to land on my desk. Firstly then, let's explain what rollers actually are. They’re a freestanding training product that allow you to ride in a static position. Similar to a turbo trainer but with a pretty obvious difference to it.

That difference is you’re not supported when riding on rollers. And by that I mean that your bike is not clamped or attached to the trainer in anyway, you rely on balance,speed and battling against gravity to stay upright, just like riding out on the open roads.

These rollers share only a couple of similarities to the rollers we would see riders using back in the 1960’s and well, almost up until the present day. And that is that they have three drums, two here for the rear wheel to sit within, and then a front roller for the front wheel to be on. As you pedal, the rear rollers drive the front one via this band that in turn makes it feel like you are riding on the road.

There’s also a 2.7kg flywheel in each of the rollers which means that when they start spinning they carry a certain inertia, giving you that road like feel.
