God gave his people the 10 commandments, not just as a set of rules to follow, but as a means to show us how far we fall short of God's perfect standard. Thankfully, Jesus came down and fulfilled the law perfectly for us, exchanging his righteousness for our sinfulness on the cross.

Lyrics:

I am the Lord your God,
who brought you out of the land of Egypt,
out of the house of slavery

And I think I know what's best for you,
since I knit you together in your mother's womb
Hear my words now, you'd be wise to follow them

1. You shall have no other gods before me
2. You shall not make for yourself a carved image
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain
4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy
5. Honor your father and your mother
6. You shall not murder
7. You shall not commit adultery
8. You shall not steal
9. You shall not lie
10. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife

These are 10 commandments to live by

Working to keep all these laws could never save
All they can do is bring sin and shame
And make us aware of our own wretched state
and our need for a Savior
But Jesus came down and kept every law
and gave us his righteousness on the cross
And he is worthy of our obedience
