A Drive up the Thames, we take 4 Amphicar's down river to the Coppa Club P1

Описание: A Drive up the Thames. ok so it was down but you know what I mean!
In this 2 part video, we take 4 Amphicar's down the River Thames

We met up at Hurley 10am, the campsite there has it's own slipway into the river.
You can swim from there but if you go up the Thames you of course are swinging against the flow & even though the Amphicar is more than capable of doing this, it is far more relaxing to go with the flow.
So we take a short 20 minuet Drive via road to Caversham Nr Reading where there is a slipway, here is where we start the video.
P1:
We then poodle on down the Thames and out first stop, Caversham lock.
The Themes was running very high, the UK having had months of wet weather, as such, most non motor propelled craft were restricted, added to the fact it was a weekday the river was abnormally quiet and very wide because of the swollen water levels.
This and the wonderful hot sunny day meant we were having a wonderful trip.
Our next stop was the Sonning Lock, after witch we do a quick U turn after Sonning bridge and moor up for lunch at the Coppa Club, This was not before one of out party lost there sun shade (luckily recovered).
P2:
Fed and watered we carry on down river looking at the sights and expensive schools & houses to our next stop Shiplake Lock. and another stop at the St George & dragon Wargrave, the mooring out front was full, so we spin round and up a slipway, and drive round and park in the pub carpark, much to many peoples surprise, them having just seen us in the water only a few minuets ago.
it's now 5 pm, so we drive round to the slipway and back into the Thames for our last stint through down Marsh lock, Henley-on-Thames and lastly our last stop Hambleden Lock, finally up the slipway at the campsite just before 7pm.
So you might be thinking, you drove 20 minuets and took hours to come back . . . YES we were not in a hurry so probably not doing any more than about 5mph and we did stop one or twice 🙂
