🌟 Day One of the Annual Sports & Cultural Festival 2024-25 🌟
The King’s School kicked off our much-anticipated Sports and Cultural Festival 2024-25 on 27th November 2024. This year’s theme, “Grateful,” set the tone for a celebration of unity, talent, and appreciation for the TKS family.
The day began with an inspiring speech by our Director, Madam Ligia Pereira who spoke on sweet fragrances representing precious and cherished moments between parents and children followed by a warm welcome to our esteemed Chief Guest, Hon. MLA of Curchorem, Mr. Nilesh Cabral. A proud parent of TKS, Mr. Cabral’s longstanding association with the school made his presence truly special. His inspiring speech highlighted the countless opportunities The King’s School offers its students to excel. Adding to the motivation, our Sports Director, Mr. Christian Roldan, delivered a compelling address on the vital role of sports in student development striking a chord with the entire TKS community. He also touched upon the historic achievements in various sports this year.
Our Cultural Program was a feast for the senses as students from Classes 9 to 12 took the stage with mesmerizing dance performances, showcasing their energy, creativity, and teamwork. The vibrant performances left the audience of parents and students spellbound. These dance performances were months in the making with a lot of hard work and dedication by the students and their Class Teachers.
The Sports Festival Opening Ceremony began with a grand March Past led by our Head Boy, Nathan D’Costa, and Head Girl, Aryaa Da Costa, symbolizing discipline and unity. This was followed by the thrilling TKS & TKSA Sports Display Run, where students proudly represented the various sports offered at the school.
A key highlight was the Torch Relay, where the torch, handed over by our Chief Guest, Mr. Nilesh Cabral to National Badminton player, Aarya Metry (8A) and subsequently handed over to other talented national-level players, concluding with Chess national player, Edrick Vaz (10C) lighting the cauldron—a symbolic gesture of igniting the spirit of sportsmanship. The Flag Ceremony saw house captains come together with school flags, and the Sports Pledge, administered by Christian Roldan to Heady Boy Nathan, reaffirmed the commitment to fair play. The games were officially declared open by Mr. Cabral in the presence of Chairman Melvin Pereira, Director Ligia Pereira, Principal Tanuja Desai, and Headmaster Wilson Varghese.
We take immense pride in achieving 100% participation in the Sports and Cultural Festival across both The King’s School and Child Care School, underscoring the spirit of inclusivity and teamwork.
As Day One concluded on a high note, we eagerly look forward to the excitement and energy of the next three days. Stay tuned for more updates from this grand celebration!
