It was admitted by Persepolis coach Motahari in an exclusive interview with the national news agency that before the round 16, there was more pressure on Persepolis.
Motahari stated that several people watching the match though it was an easy game for the Persepolis. But before the match against Istiklol, he said that the Tajik team is great opponents for them in Asia. The team had their supporters in the match venue and also their hosting rights. Although kindness was shown by the Tajik people and the team was treated humbly by them, what made their situation more difficult were the artificial turf and the training fields facilities that were much below the level of the Champions league.
He added that in performing the tactical plan of the Istiklol team, they had a great organized planning which was for defending and establishing counter attack. Although the Persepolis had several plans for attack they couldn’t execute them well as the opponents were resisting very well until they arrived at the final phase of the match. It was fortunate enough for the team that at the final point, they could diminish their defensive walls, which ultimately brought them victory.
