Prof . Azam Jan MD.(USA)is the head of Department at RMI .A world renowned Cardio Thoracic and Vascular surgeon!

Prof . Azam Jan did his medical degree from the prestigious Aga Khan University. As a student he worked in the surgery Dept. of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr Azam Jan is American Boards of surgery ( ABS) and cardiothoracic surgery ( ABTS) certified surgeon. He has been trained in critical care management of cardio thoracic surgical patients .He did his cardiac surgery at the world’s famous Houston Methodist De Bakey Heart & Vascular Center named after Dr. Michael E. De Bakey, a pioneer in heart surgery!Cardio Thoracic Surgery encompasses the surgical critical care of patients with acquired or birth associated conditions within the chest. Included are the surgical repair of congenital and acquired conditions of the heart, including the pericardium, coronary arteries, valves, great vessels and myocardium.

Vascular surgery is a specialty of surgery in which diseases of the blood vessels( arteries and veins,)are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. Prof . Azam Jan was mentored in Aortic surgery by world renowned Dr H. Safi and his team in Houston texas, Herman Heart and Vascular institute, USA. Dr Safi himself a legendary surgeon, was trained by Dr. Michael E. DeBakey, and was an associate of Dr. E. Stanley Crawford. He took aortic surgery to a level that was unprecedented before. Similarly the other aspects of vascular surgery were mastered at the Vascular department in West Virginia university where Dr Azam Jan worked for many years.

Another speciality that Prof Azam Jan specialise in is Chest(thoracic )surgery. Thoracic surgery includes treating conditions of the lung, esophagus and chest wall, cancers of the mediastinum, and diseases of the diaphragm etc. Prof Azam Jan did his thoracic training at number 1 ranked hospital in USA , University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and The Methodist hospital.

The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education.

Prof. Azam Jan has an active interest in research. His research work is published in multiple countries. He has presented his research and experience in every major surgical and medical conference .His clinical interests include cardiovascular diseases and its treatment in a developing country, treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the esophagus, lung, mediastinum, diaphragm and chest wall. He specializes in minimally invasive procedures, such as VATS lobectomy and minimally invasive valve surgeries including TAVI. He has a special interest in heart failure surgery including Heart transplant and ventricular assist devices.
