From the award presentation at the 2023 Arizona Concours, this is a Shelby American Cobra Mk III "LoneStar". Cobra Historian Michael Shoen explains this car's unique heritage and unique place in Shelby American's history! 1968 Shelby Cobra Mk 3 Concept Car, aka LoneStar. This mid engine car was presented to Ford as a prototype possible follow-up to the big-block Cobra 427. Based largely on the winning GT40, this car sports a hot small block Hi-Po 289 engine just behind the seats. Mr Shoen invested in restoring this car beyond it's original glory, because as a concept prototype, it was missing important development in order to make it a truly drivable vehicle. The result is fabulous!
