Here’s another fun teardown showing what valuable components can be found inside common digital cameras. These little devices often contain surprising amounts of precious-metal–bearing parts, including gold-plated connectors, silver traces, monolithic capacitors, and tiny IC chips worth saving for later refining or resale.
In this teardown, we compare the inside of a modern digital camera with an older video camera scrapping project. Even though the scrap weight isn't high, the individual components can definitely add up — especially if you’ve been hoarding boards, connectors, and capacitors like I have!
