Indian Street Food - Paneer Tikka, Vada Pau & A Bowl of Greens at Dishoom Restaurant, Kings Cross

Описание: Wow, this really is a genuine treat; because we're finally getting to visit the recently opened "Dishoom" Restaurant in Kings Cross, it's an authentically recreated vintage style Bombay Café/Diner in the heart of "Proper London" .

In this video we can see master chef Rakesh make his version of Paneer Tikka..........the actual recipe is a secret but we can confirm that it is absolutely Delicious!!! Additionally we order & get to see the chef make Vada Pau & A Bowl of Greens.

This is wonderful "Indian Style Street Food" at it's very best...........but in a restaurant where the menu takes inspiration from Bombay’s famous street grills and food stalls.

Paneer Tikka: marinated Paneer Cheese chunks, red and green capsicum pieces are gently char grilled & sprinkled with a generous pinch of kebab masala.

A Bowl Of Greens: Grilled broccoli, Snow Peas and Spinach with chilli and lime.

Vada Pau: Bombay’s version of a Chip Butty, (A Bateta Vada in a Soft Bun with a squirt of the chef special sauces & served with a Coriander/Mint Chutney a sprinkling of Dishoom's very own Red ‘Hillbilly’ powder

The owners of this restaurant have taken great care in creating a beautifully majestic and authentic Indian style cafe in the style of a bygone era.

The following description is on their their website page, which articulates what the owners of this restaurant have recreated :

"The old Irani Cafés of Bombay have almost all disappeared. Their faded elegance welcomed all: rich businessmen, sweaty taxi-wallas and courting couples. Fans turned slowly. Bentwood chairs were reflected in stained mirrors, next to sepia family portraits. Students had breakfast. Families dined. Lawyers read briefs. Writers found their characters".

"Opened early last century by Zoroastrian Parsi immigrants from Iran, there were almost four hundred cafés at their peak in the 1960s. Now, fewer than thirty remain. Their loss is much mourned by Bombayites".

In case you're wondering, what is a dishoom? It’s the old Bollywood Indian movie sound effect produced when the hero lands a blow.
