1. The 122nd U.S. Open gets underway Thursday with the national championship taking place at one of the oldest golf courses in the United States.
2. The Brookline Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, will host the US Open for the fourth time and the first since Curtis Strange upset Nick Faldo in 1988.
3. After a win at the RBC Canadian Open last week, four-time major champion Rory McIlroy has picked up where he left off with a strong start to Round 1 this week at Brookline.
4. He will be joined by 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama and Olympic gold medalist Xander Schauffele in a dynamite pairing.
