കുരിശിൽ മരിച്ചവനേ, കുരിശാലേ വിജയം വരിച്ചവനേ,
മിഴിനീരൊഴുക്കിയങ്ങേ, കുരിശിൻ്റെ വഴിയേ വരുന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ.
ലോകൈകനാഥാ, നിൻ ശിഷ്യനായ്ത്തീരുവാ-
നാശിപ്പോനെന്നുമെന്നും
കുരിശു വഹിച്ചു നിൻ
കാല്‍പാടു പിഞ്ചെല്ലാൻ
കല്പിച്ച നായകാ,
നിൻ ദിവ്യരക്തത്താ-
ലെൻ പാപമാലിന്യം
കഴുകേണമേ, ലോകനാഥാ.

പ്രാരംഭ പ്രാർത്ഥന
നിത്യനായ ദൈവമേ, ഞങ്ങൾ അങ്ങയെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു. പാപികളായ മനുഷ്യർക്കുവേണ്ടി ജീവൻ ബലികഴിക്കുവാൻ തിരുമനസ്സായ കർത്താവേ ഞങ്ങൾ അങ്ങേയ്ക്കു നന്ദി പറയുന്നു. അങ്ങു ഞങ്ങളെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു: അവസാനം വരെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു. സ്നേഹിതനുവേണ്ടി ജീവൻ ബലികഴിക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ വലിയ സ്നേഹമില്ലെന്ന് അങ്ങ് രുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ. പീലാത്തോസിന്‍റെ ഭവനം മുതൽ ഗാഗുൽത്താവരെ കുരിശും വഹിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുള്ള അവസാനയാത്ര അങ്ങേ സ്നേഹത്തിന്റെ ഏറ്റം മഹത്തായ പ്രകടനമായിരുന്നു. കണ്ണുനീരിന്റെയും രക്തത്തിന്റെയും ആ വഴിയിൽകൂടി വ്യാകുലയായ മാതാവിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഒരു തീർത്ഥ യാത്രയായി ഞങ്ങളും അങ്ങയെ അനുഗമിക്കുന്നു. സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലേയ്ക്കുള്ള വഴി ഞെരുക്കമുള്ളതും, വാതില്‍ ഇടുങ്ങിയതുമാണെന്ന് ഞങ്ങളെ അറിയിച്ച കർത്താവേ, ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ഓരോ ദിവസവും ഞങ്ങൾക്കുണ്ടാകുന്ന വേദനകളും കുരിശുകളും സന്തോഷത്തോടെ സഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ആ ഇടുങ്ങിയ വഴിയിൽക്കൂടി സഞ്ചരിക്കുവാൻ ഞങ്ങളെ സഹായിക്കണമേ. കർത്താവേ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കണമേ. പരിശുദ്ധ ദേവമാതാവേ, ക്രൂശിതനായ കർത്താവിൻ്റെ തിരുമുറിവുകൾ എൻ്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ പതിപ്പിച്ചുറപ്പിക്കണമേ.
