This video was shot just a matter of hours before Nell's tragic death in a car accident on October 6 2024.

She had been working on a plan for the shoot since the spring and it was the last piece of the puzzle to get ready before the release of her album Anxious.

The video shoot took place just outside of Fernie BC in the Ek Valley surrounded by stunning mountain views and Nell was on great form. Laughing and joking "just point the camera and shut up Alex" as the video came together.

It rained, then the sun came out, then it rained again. She was cold and then warm and experiencing many of those senses we take for granted for the last time. Her last creative endeavour has left us with a lasting memory and a touching visual story to go with a beautiful song that completes her album with a fitting crescendo.

Split in the Sky is a song inspired by Nell's first tattoo which took place in London backstage at a Flaming Lips show, Nell was excited to be able to choose the logo from Glasgow Barrowlands which had been one of the best nights on the run of shows across the UK which was her debut tour. She loved every moment, especially getting the tattoo.

Split in the Sky was written by Nell in collaboration with Penelope Isles. The song was recorded in Brighton at Bella Union Studios with additional vocals recorded in Nanaimo BC with Howard Redekopp.
