Could it be that society decided to entertain this idea for a bit and then decided we liked it? Or was it all some clever scheme to get us to start looking at the soft boy as a romantic interest? It’s hard to say. If you compare leading men in the 80s and 90s to today, there’s a huge difference. We value brains over brawn. Women no longer want to be the damsel in distress, but looking for intellectual and emotional equals.
