Paddleboard Places goes to Boulder Bay Beach in Big Bear, CA. This was a scenic drive and a beautiful trip that could have been a great paddle if not for high winds, $70 in fees, no parking, algae in the shallow spots, and more.
Big Bear is beautiful. We loved the view and the big boulders in this lake. Be sure to check your wind app and make sure it's a calm day. Also, you must get a permit for each board or kayak you take on the lake. In 2024 the cost was $35 each and you can get fined if you don't--which we should have been, but we got off with just paying the permit fee.
The park ranger was very nice--he even subscribed to our channel while collecting our permit fee.
The town looks like a great place to visit and the lake is picturesque. We need to give it another try.
