We depart from Nordby in the morning, to go south along the eastern coast of Fanoe, and reach the high tide allowing us to pass Elbow Bay.
The voyage continues south to the bank or mudflat: Pendersand, east of Sønderho. Ancored here we await low tide, leaving the ship standing right on the dried seabed, allowing us to collect the fine Pasific Oysters from the drained mudflats.
Finally we sample the rich harvest, while the water rises again and we need to reach the next high tide to pass back.
If the tide dictates tough conditions for navigating the Wadden Sea, it is also the facilitator, providing the opportunity of gargo operation almost anywhere on the coast, as the ship during low tide stands on the dry seabed, available for interaction with the shore. Back when crossing land, at best, meant horse and cart on small dirt roads, inshore and coustal maritime transport is what held society together, offering efficient and affordable transport.

Fanó VideoGuide præsenterer Fanø året rundt, steder, begivenheder og relevante emner. Det gøres i korte videoer, der produceres i tre udgaver med kommentar på henholdsvis Dansk, Tysk og Engelsk.
The concept is to present the Danish Wadden Sea island Fano, throughout the year, events, sights and relevant topics. This is done by relatively short videos featured in three versions with commentary in respectively Danish, English and German.
