You know how a lot of people on YouTube start off their videos with "A lot of people have been asking me lately..." and you never know if they're full of it or what...? Well, I have legit been asked by several people over the last few months of making metroidvania maps what games in the genre I'd recommend.

I kinda always put answering off because I don't really have a list and I never really think much about it, but as I had a chunk of spare time this morning, I figured I'd try one of those tier list maker things and record me trying to figure out how I'd rank all the metroidvanias I own. This is the result.

Completely unplanned, unscripted, pure gut feeling.

Is this my list of recommendations? Yes? No? Maybe? Who knows if I'll feel the same way about them all tomorrow or the next day. I'm mercurial. But as a rough ballpark, here you go. Personal listings. No hate.
