Don't use Japanese sword as an axe like what we did. It is not correct, and would cause damage to sword. We do this just for a test.

LD steel (made in China) katana test(58-59HRC). The blade is flat and polished super sharp, under vacuum heat treatment. The advantage of the flat sharp edge is that it can cut the straw mat, green bamboo, mineral water bottle and works great. The disadvantage is that the blade lacks sufficient support, so it's not suitable for cutting hard objects. The bamboo tested is the one with high hardness (especially the bamboo joints) in southern China. The first bamboo is about 1 year old and the second one is about 4+ years old.
