"On November 26, a ranger from the Wangchi Protection and Management Station of the Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve in Jilin Province discovered suspected Siberian tiger footprints while patrolling along the Jinjiang Grand Canyon Highway on the west slope. This was the first time that suspected Siberian tiger footprints were found along the route. Subsequently, the Changbai Mountain Science Research Institute urgently deployed 9 monitoring cameras around the scene.
On December 3, Liu Guifu, director of Wangchi Conservation and Management Station of Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve in Jilin Province, filmed a video of a Siberian tiger about 300 meters away from the last tiger footprints found. He was less than 10 meters away from the tiger when filming. The video shows an adult Siberian tiger, majestic and sharp-eyed, always acting like a "king" when seeing the camera. Experts have identified that the tiger should be the same tiger as the one whose footprints were previously photographed. This is the first time a Siberian tiger has been found in Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve since 1994. This marks the further expansion of the habitat of wild Siberian tigers, which has expanded more than 200 kilometers westward from the Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park."
