The dish Hum Choy / Mui Choy with braised pork belly is a distinctive Hakka traditional dish. Hum Choy is salted vegetables. When it is paired with the tender pork belly, the two ingredients compliment each other well.

Ingredients required:
Pork belly
Hum Choy
light soy sauce
sweet soy sauce
sugar
garlic
onions
oil for frying
Steps:
1. Soak hum choy / salted vegetable in water to remove the salt content. You can soak overnight.
2. Boil pork belly to remove oil
3. Rinse and poke the pork belly to remove more oil
4. Stir fry garlic and onions
5. Add in pork belly and more meat as needed
6. Add sweet soy sauce
7. Add light soy sauce
8. Add sugar
9. Add hum choy / salted vegetables
10. Cooked for 5 minutes
11. Transfer into a pot for steaming / a pressured cooker
12. Cook for about 40 minutes
This dish quite handy as it includes both vegetables and meat. Don't forget to cook your steamed rice. It will taste really good with hot steaming rice.
