Instructions FROM MY DAD:

We used 1x6 oak boards
Table saw when we started to cut the boards to the right length
We used a doweling jig to get the holes in the right spot
We used a drill with a 3/8” bit for the holes
Wood glue
Rubber mallet to pound the boards together
We used a paper template for the size and shape
We used a jigsaw to cut it to the right shape
We used a router for the edges, with a 3/8” rounding bit
We used a ½” straight router bit for the groove for your poplar trim piece
Wood putty for the bad spots
Electric sander
Pipe clamps to hold it together while it dried
