7 Executed Witches are Buried in Unmarked Graves at the back of St Nicholas Church in Great Yarmouth

Описание: Seven witches are buried in unmarked graves at the back of St Nicholas’ Churchyard in Great Yarmouth. This is also where body snatchers stole corpses to order for scientists in 1827. The seven witches were buried in unconsecrated ground on the edge of the church. Elizabeth Butcher & Joan Lingwood were buried after being hanged as witches in 1584. Five more accused witches joined them in September 1645. Elizabeth Bradwell, Alice Clesswell, Bridget Howard, Maria Blackborne and Elizabeth Dudgeon were hung together and buried together in unmarked graves on the same day.
