One interviewer who never put himself above his subjects was Brian Lamb, the founder of C-SPAN and the host of Book Notes.

Notice how almost every question is a W question–who, what, when, where, or why.
If you want information, ask a whole bunch of W questions, following up for more information or clarification, when necessary–and then let the speaker speak.
