Facts About Mali:

Mali is a landlocked country in West Africa. It is bordered by six countries: Senegal to the west, Ivory Coast to the southeast, Burkina Faso and Niger to the northeast, Algeria to the east, and Mauritania to the northwest. Mali is a country of endless wonders with its people, language and culture. Its size is about 1,240,000 square miles with a population of about 17 million people.

Bamako is the capital city of Mali and has a population of over 2.5 million people and is home to more than 20 ethnic groups.

The people of Mali are known for their rich history and culture. They are also known for their hospitality and generosity. The Malian people have been living in this area for about 12,000 years now. They speak French as well as Bamanankan which is one of their native languages.

Mali is the largest country in West Africa, with a population of 14.5 million people. It is bordered by Algeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea. The climate in Mali is semi-arid to arid with fertile vegetation.

Mali has the 3rd largest desert in the world and is the 5th largest country. It is located in Western Africa and has an area of 1,240,000 km2. The country is rich in natural resources such as gold, iron ore and uranium.

Mali ethnic composition
In Mali around 30 different ethnic groups live peacefully together, with the Bambara making up the majority of the population with around 30%. Other ethnic groups are Malinké, Fulani (Fulbe and Peulh), Sarakolé (Maraka), Songhai, Minianka, Bozo, Khassonké, Bobo, Senufo, Dogon, Tuareg, Moors (especially Kunta) and Dioula.

The Malian culture is rich with its music, art, literature, folklore and celebrations. The traditional Malian culture consists of various languages such as Bambara (the most spoken language), French (the official language).
