I'm still on a self-imposed running ban but managed to get out for a walk in the East of the Lake District last week.
In this walk I head up to Sadgill. A small hamlet at the top of the Longsleddale valley.
Sadgill is a beautiful little spot accessed up a single track road that winds its way up the beautiful Longsleddale valley which, was the inspiration for the Postman Pat TV series.
From Sadgill I head up to Grey Crag (not mentioned in the video) and on to Harrop Pike. Why Wainwright never chose Harrop Pike for his books I'll never know. From Harrop Pike I head over to one of the stone pillars that used to be part of a cable car system for transporting slate. From there I head down to the track that passes over Gatescarth Pass.
This track is part of the Lakeland 50 route, a track I've run down quite a few times over the years and I follow it back to Sadgill.
This part of the lake district isn't visited as often as other parts, which gives it a unique more isolated vibe. Wind-swept and solitary were the words of the day.
I'm enjoying the slower pace of walking and the fact it enables me to focus more on getting nicer more composed shots for video, enabling more creativity. with that in mind I'm going to do more walking videos!
I hope you enjoy this one.
Thanks for watching
John
