When the James Webb Space Telescope turned its golden mirrors toward the earliest chapters of the universe, it found something no one was expecting—tiny, crimson points of light scattered across the cosmic dawn. Astronomers call them Little Red Dots, and they may be among the most mysterious discoveries ever made. These objects appear compact, ancient, and impossibly massive—so massive, in fact, that they shouldn’t have been able to form so soon after the Big Bang. Their strange colors and powerful light signatures hint at something extraordinary happening inside: perhaps dense, star-forming galaxies shrouded in dust, or maybe a completely new kind of object powered by black holes wrapped in glowing gas. Whatever they are, these Little Red Dots are challenging everything we thought we knew about how the first structures in the universe came to be.
