The crew of the Enterprise discover an ancient Earth vessel (from the nineties!) drifting in space, the crew of which are in deep hibernation. With the revival of the ship's captain and the progression of Mister Spock's investigation into his past it becomes apparent that the ancient vessel holds no less than 80 human beings all of whom are a product of selective breeding; the heightened physical abilities and mental capacities of such people of that era brought about World War III otherwise known as the Eugenics Wars.
