Old & Outdated Trolley Signals Manually Controlled By MTS Worker (Euclid Avenue Station)

In this video, for at least 2 months, all of the orange line trolleys terminated here in the Euclid Avenue station because of track damage further east from a very big El Nino storm that hit San Diego on January 22, 2024.

You can also kind of see the aftermath here as well because the flood channel is right underneath the tracks here and the water took over these tracks too and left behind a bunch of branches. Anyway, this gave me the opportunity to film this very rare event when that dwarf signal in the middle of the tracks down there was getting some action and some manual action too because a MTS worker was actually controlling that signal if you look closely.

What the MTS worker did was after the trolley passed by him, he pressed a button on the back of that dwarf signal which made the main signal near me go to red and then the tracks on the opposite side changed to have the trolley change tracks to the right side and that's when you saw the dwarf signal go from red to green. If the trolley were to stay on the same tracks and not switch over, the signal would of instead showed a yellow. If the trolley were to switch tracks and then come back towards me, you would of seen the lunar/white light come on which has never happened before.

Besides that, these trolley signals are outdated and with the orange line construction happening, these signals will soon be replaced with new modern signals where it would show double signals on one pole. So instead of the dwarf signal in this video showing a simple green which isn't really specific on what track they will be on past it, the newer signals that will be put here will instead show a red over yellow which is more specific to the trolley driver that they can change tracks. If the trolley were to stay on the same track and not switch tracks, then it would show a yellow over red.
