My first sword commission! The Klingon Bat'leth from Star Trek. This blade is part forged, part fabricated, as you will see in the following episodes. The commission was for a "wall-hanger" piece, not a functional sword, but I took it on with the understanding that I was going to go a bit .... overboard.
In this one, I forge out the handle arc and the cutting points and edges. The handle is mild steel and the edges and points are 1084 high carbon steel.
You can see just how much work can be done on a simple train track anvil and the much maligned 55 lb cast iron anvil from Harbor Freight. Ideal? Nope! But perfectly functional tools.
