Camera VS Flatbed Scanning ~ In-Depth Comparison

Описание: In this video I GO SUPER IN DEPTH and compare my Epson v550 with my Panasonic gh4 for scanning 35mm film to see which is the best way to scan film.
Mostly looking at this comparison from a pure practicality standpoint, trying to cover all aspects and considerations to take when scanning with each setup. To find the OVERALL best way to scan.
These are MY results with my setup, obviously with a good lens and a much better camera you should be able to match or exceed the image resolving capability of the current flatbed scanning technology (which is all from 2007) ESPECIALLY if you do image stitching! (without stitching tho camera scanning larger formats is pointless unless you are rocking one of those ultra high megapixel cameras and a sick nasty lens) but I've come to the conclusion that flatbeds are - IN GENERAL- A LOT better than most methods of camera scanning currently in existence. which is very UNFORTUNATE, BECAUSE FLATBEDS ARE NOT REALLY THAT GOOD EITHER! In fact flatbeds are equally annoying and tedious in their own ways.

There is ONE HUGE way camera scanning would always 100% DESTROY flatbeds though, but I'll save that topic for a future video!

I should also clarify, when I say a "linear CCD will always get better color than a camera" it is not because it is a CCD it is because there is a sensor for each color for each 'pixel' scanned, thus giving each pixel true color info as opposed to a camera which must interpolate (except for foveon). It has nothing to do with CCD vs CMOS, a scanner could use a linear cmos and it would be just as color accurate. A scanner also likely does a self check and calibration before each scan, thus getting more accurate colors regardless of backlight degradation over time.


If someone wants to fund me I have an idea for a modern film scanner that would be better than both in terms of quality!
