This video will bring the viewer a step by step history of Union Pacific's rise to success from the E.H. Harriman days 100 years ago to the UP-MP-WP merger era. A real treat are these scenes of early UP spanning rivers and expanding and laying track from our classic DVD "Union Pacific Vintage West" www.cspmovies.com
This is one section of a long production on UP in WWII and into the diesel era. These scenes were filmed by the late George Barnes and the late John Petros. Besides the great UP action, we bring their competition into the picture and some of the railroads that nearly made it into the the UP Camp.
The focal period is from 1960 to 1980 with the onslaught of rail mergers. See Steam GP9s, E and F-units, Turbines, DD35, DD40s, U50s, SD24 and SD45s and many others with passenger and freights!
