Meet Dr. Margaret McCollum, whose husband passed away in 2007 — but his voice still echoes every day in one of London’s busiest Underground stations.

Her husband, a professional actor, recorded the iconic “Mind the Gap” announcement for the London Underground’s Northern Line back in the 1960s.
After his death, Dr. Margaret visited the station almost every day just to hear his voice again.

But when in 2012, the system was updated and her husband’s voice was replaced by a digital one, she was heartbroken. After hearing her story, Transport for London (TfL) decided to restore his original recording.
They even gave her a CD of his voice — a small miracle that turned grief into eternal love.

Today, that one station still plays his “Mind the Gap,” keeping their love story alive forever.
