Rivers of Culture Foundation sponsored the URUK Chamber Music Group in an exceptional evening of music on the 31st January 2026 at St. Mary's Church in Acton, London.
This event rekindled the spirit of Mesopotamia and the depth of the Iraqi soul through the universal language of art.
Bringing together distinguished Iraqi musicians from across the globe, this concert presents a selection of classical and contemporary works that weave together ancient heritage and modern creativity — a musical dialogue between East and West, tradition and innovation.
The musicians of the URUK Ensemble are graduates of the School of Music and Ballet in Baghdad, one of Iraq’s most distinguished artistic institutions, which has produced generations of classical music performers.
Since their graduation, the members of the ensemble have continued to perform and work together across various countries in Europe, united by their dedication to the art, their connection to their Iraqi musical heritage, and their passion for reviving tradition in a contemporary form that bridges past and present.
