Gerry writes a letter to his grandma about the terrible conditions at Camp Hope. He explains how the camp owner, Tony Perkis, has created an environment devoid of the fun and enjoyment that is typically associated with summer camp.
This clip illustrates the authoritative leadership style. Tony Perkis controls the entire camp and punishes the campers for what he believes is a "lack of hustle" by depriving them of lunch. He makes the camping experience less enjoyable by getting rid of fun activities, such as The Blob and go-karts. He also allows individuals from the rival camp, Camp MVP, to make fun of his campers and vandalize the premises. As indicated by Gerry, Tony is intimidating and causes campers to fear him, another trait of an authoritarian leader.
