Medication nonadherence remains a persistent and costly challenge in healthcare, contributing to preventable morbidity, mortality, and significant economic burden. This animation introduces SAFARI (Smart Adherence via FARaday cage And Resorbable Ingestible), a bioresorbable, passive RFID-based capsule designed to autonomously confirm medication ingestion without requiring patient engagement or device retrieval. By integrating a transient cellulose–metal radiofrequency shielding layer that functions as an in vivo Faraday cage, SAFARI enables precise activation of signal transmission only after ingestion. Constructed entirely from biodegradable materials, the system safely disintegrates within the gastrointestinal environment, mitigating risks associated with long-term retention and electronic waste. The platform has been validated in vivo in large animal models, demonstrating reliable real-time detection of ingestion events and highlighting its potential as a scalable, patient-friendly, and environmentally conscious approach to adherence monitoring.
