Rhinoceros Auklets call Triangle Island home. Seven percent of the world's Rhinoceros Auklets breed here. This remote, rocky island (located just north of Vancouver Island) is the largest seabird colony along British Columbia's coast.
Environment Canada is working to establish a National Wildlife Area for the marine waters around the Scott Islands (which includes Triangle Island). Protected, nutrient-rich waters mean optimal breeding conditions, and thus better survival for these birds.
