A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launches a group of Starlink satellites to space. Watch the recovery operation as the booster returns to Cape Canaveral by sea and road. The fairing halves that make up the nose cone then follow.
On October 18th at 19:31 EDT, a SpaceX Falcon 9 Block 5 launched the Starlink Group 8-19 mission. 20 internet relay satellites were deployed in Low Earth Orbit after being jettisoned by the second stage.
The first stage, Booster B1076, returned to land on the droneship 'Just Read The Instructions.' This Autonomous Spaceport Drone Ship (ASDS) then brought the rocket booster back into the Port of Canaveral. An LHM 600 crane was used to lift the booster onto a transporter for the journey back to HangarX at Roberts Road. The Brevard County Sheriff's Office escorted the oversize load into Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
The payload fairings splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean. They were recovered by the SpaceX recovery ship, Doug, who brought the fairings back to the Port of Canaveral. Doug also collected other fairings from another mission. All four halves were loaded onto transporters, and were also escorted back to HangarX at Roberts Road. Both fairing halves and booster will be refurbished for future Falcon 9 missions.
