At BIGARAN, innovation meets sustainability.
A company at the forefront, capable of transforming industrial and urban waste into valuable resources. Operating since 1970, Bigaran manages two separate plants.
The first plant, located in San Biagio di Callalta in the province of Treviso, handles approximately 48,000 tons per year, while the second, situated in Megliadino San Vitale in the province of Padua, processes around 50,000 tons annually. Together, Bigaran manages approximately 98,000 tons of non-hazardous special waste each year, a number that continues to grow. The two plants cover a total area of about 36,000 square meters, with over 6,000 square meters indoors.
The purpose of the plants includes the sorting, screening, shredding, and volume reduction of non-hazardous special waste, both urban and industrial, for the purpose of valorization.
Driven by a commitment to sustainability, Bigaran has always focused on recovering any material that can be reused or repurposed for new product manufacturing. Currently, 80% of the waste processed at the two plants is recovered, either as "secondary raw materials" (wood, cardboard, plastic, metal, etc.) or, in the case of our EWC 191212 residue, used as fuel (R01) or sent to third-party plants for conversion into Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) for cement production.
Bigaran also stands out for its ability to handle multiple waste types simultaneously, continuously investing in advanced machinery and equipment. This approach allows the company to provide cutting-edge solutions in the market.
Both plants are organized into three distinct processing areas:
● Sorting cabins for waste separation,
● Shredding and screening sections for volume reduction,
● Wood matrix waste processing.
In addition to holding ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, the San Biagio di Callalta plant utilizes renewable energy through a 99 kWp photovoltaic system, significantly reducing its environmental footprint. Meanwhile, a new SRF production plant is under consideration at the Megliadino San Vitale site, with the goal of further reinforcing Bigaran's role in the circular economy and transforming waste management into a valuable opportunity for the entire community.
